About Robin Maddox, LMFT
EDUCATION
I received my bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Indiana University. After teaching Special Education for a few years I returned to school to receive my Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University. After graduation, I was selected to be the Clinical Fellow at The Family Institute at Northwestern University. Throughout my fellowship I was extensively trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy within the context of family systems. After my fellowship I transitioned to the role of staff therapist where I remained for a few years before starting my private practice.
BACKGROUND
Prior to my graduate level work, I was a special education teacher, which helps inform my work with children and their parents. In addition to private practice, I was Chief Clinical Officer and Director of Behavioral Health at Clay, a start-up innovating on early intervention for pediatric mental health.
FAMILY
Of all my roles being a mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend are among the hardest and most important to me. I use my experience in these complex roles to validate your experience and bring a level of understanding to the challenges in yours and your families life.
